  A concrete batching plant is a combination of equipment that brings together water, air, cementatious mixtures, and other aggregate materials to produce concrete for different application types. Depending on production needs and other factors, the producer might choose a mobile concrete batching plant or a stationary concrete batching plant. The batching plant can produce dry batch concrete which is a combination of concrete ingredients and mixed in a truck with water on the way to a project, or wet mix concrete is a combination of concrete ingredients and water into a central mixer at the site of your batch plant and then discharged into a truck for transport.
  
  
  In a concrete batch plant, the various ingredients used to make the type of concrete being used — such as Portland cement, aggregates (gravel, crushed stone, sand, etc.), and water — are combined in a large, mechanical, and sometimes computer-aided machine, mixed and prepared for use at a job site. The end product (concrete) is then put to use as a raw material in laying down the basics of buildings and paving roads and other open areas. The piping of drains also requires concrete.
  
  A concrete batching plant ideally has many more components to it. It is the assembly of tools and machines such as mixers, cement batchers, aggregate batchers, conveyors, radial stackers, aggregate bins, cement bins, heaters, chillers, cement silos, control. These accessories, in turn, are of different kinds. For example, mixers can be either horizontal or tilt up and of both types in certain cases.
  
  Concrete can be mixed to a customer’s specific requirements and is sold and bought by volume (generally in bags ranging from 45 pounds to 80 pounds). This is why it is perfect for small construction or renovation projects in Dallas when you may only need to use half a yard worth of concrete.
  
  Types of Concrete Batch Plants
  Normally, a concrete batch plant can be of two types, depending upon how the mixing is done and when the concrete reaches the job site. The first is a ready-mix plant, which involves combining all ingredients for the concrete except for water, which is added as the final ingredient during transportation to a job site. A Central-mix batch plant is another type. A central mix plant combines all ingredients for the concrete, including water, and then transported to the job site.
  
  Ready-Mix Batch Plants
  When ingredients for the concrete mixture (barring water) are combined using a ready-mix concrete batch plant, the dry mixture is disposed of into a concrete transport truck where water is added to it. This gets the concrete ready for production. This mixing occurs when the truck is on its way to the job site.
  
  There are basically three different options that you have if you are going to be using ready-mixed concrete:
  
  The concrete mixer can be turned at slow speed while inside the drum during transit, at which point the speed for the mixing drum can be increased for five minutes to prepare the mixture.
  
  The concrete mixture can be mixed at the mixing yard and only slowly agitated during transportation to the job site.
  
  The concrete mixture can be turned at medium speed while inside the drum during transit so that it can be completely mixed by the time it reaches its destination.
  
  Central-Mix Batch Plants
  Central-mix batch plants, also known as “wet batch” plants, are another primary method of concrete batching. Central-mix plants combine and mix all ingredients for the concrete before the mix is discharged into a mixing truck for transportation to a job site. A fixed, plant-mounted mixer (that resembles a silo) is used to mix all the ingredients.
  
  There are a number of advantages of using central-mix batch plants to mix concrete, such as:
  
  Concrete can be mixed a lot faster in central-mix plants than in truck mixers.
  
  Using a central-mix plant does not place as much strain or wear and tear on concrete-mixing trucks.
  
  You can achieve an overall consistent mixture with a central-mix plant than you can with a truck mixer.

  A concrete plant, also known as a batch plant or batching plant or a concrete batching plant, is equipment that combines various ingredients to form concrete. Some of these inputs include water, air, admixtures, sand, aggregate (rocks, gravel, etc.), fly ash, silica fume, slag, and cement. A concrete plant can have a variety of parts and accessories, including: mixers (either tilt drum or horizontal, or in some cases both), cement batchers, aggregate batchers, conveyors, radial stackers, aggregate bins, cement bins, heaters, chillers, cement silos, batch plant controls, and dust collectors.
  
  The heart of the concrete batching plant is the mixer, and there are many types of mixers, such as tilt drum, pan, planetary, single shaft and twin shaft. The twin shaft mixer can ensure an even mixture of concrete through the use of high horsepower motors, while the tilt mixer offers a comparatively large batch of concrete mix. In North America, the predominant central mixer type is a tilt drum style, while in Europe and other parts of the world, a twin shaft mixer is more prevalent. A pan or planetary mixer is more common at a precast plant.
  
  Aggregate bins have 2 to 6 compartments for storage of various sand and aggregate (rocks, gravel, etc.) sizes, while cement silos are typically one or two compartments, but at times up to 4 compartments in a single silo. Conveyors are typically between 24-48 inches wide and carry aggregate from the ground hopper to the aggregate bin, as well as from the aggregate batcher to the charge chute.

  The aggregate batcher, also named aggregate bins, is used for storage and to batch the sand, gravel and crushed stone of the concrete plant. There are also many types of aggregate batchers, but most of them measure aggregate by weighing. Some use a weighing hopper, some use a weighing belt.
  
  The cement silos are indispensable devices in the production of concrete. They mainly store bulk cement, fly ash, mineral powder and others. There are three types of cement silos: bolted cement silos, horizontal cement silos and integrated cement silos. Integrated cement silos are made in factories, and can be used directly. Bolted cement silos are bolted for easy installation and removal. Horizontal cement silos have lower requirements on foundations and can be transported by truck or flatbed without disassembly.

  Concrete plants use the control system to control the working of the machine. Concrete batch plants employ computer aided control to assist in fast and accurate measurement of input constituents or ingredients. With concrete performance so dependent on accurate water measurement, systems often use digital scales for cementitious materials and aggregates, and moisture probes to measure aggregate water content as it enters the aggregate batcher to automatically compensate for the mix design water/cement ratio target. Many producers find moisture probes work well only in sand, and with marginal results on larger sized aggregate.

  A concrete batch plant is a factory that stores the various constituent elements of concrete – water, cement, aggregates, and additives – in suitable tanks.
  
  Then, it manufactures the custom-made concrete at the request of each customer. The concrete manufactured in the plant is produced in large quantities. It is of high quality since the plant must comply with the regulations in force.
  
  The plants are equipped with automatic machines that allow the continuous production of concrete.
  
  This is possible because of previously entered formulas. Then, it automatically makes corrections to the quantities of water according to the aggregates’ water content. Automation limits, to some extent, the exposure of personnel to cement dust and silica dust, both sources of health problems.

  The first one is a fixed production unit. The second one allows for manual manufacturing of concrete in small quantities, directly on the site.
  
  However, depending on the case, mobile concrete plants can also be installed on large-scale construction sites. These make it possible to produce concrete directly according to the progress of the pour.
  
  This type of mobile unit requires ample space for its installation and a constant supply of water. As a general rule, its production rate is 35 m³ of concrete/hour.
  
  In practice, the mobile concrete batching plant is used in rare circumstances for professional sites.
